Snoop Lion and His Son form a Band
Tha Broadus Boyz, a new group formed of Snoop Dogg and his two sons, Spanky Danky (Corde Calvin Broadus) & Dirty D (Cordell Broadus), released their album Royal Fam with production from Cardo on the beat (Wiz Khalifa).
Royal Fam is a 10-track album (+ bonus track), featuring Snoop Dogg himself who coached his sons throughout the recordings, passing on his knowledge as a rap icon. Following in their father’s footsteps, Spanky records music full time and Cordell displays a natural talent for rhyme, together creating their own fresh take on Tha EastSidaz & Tha Dogg Pound. The album couples clever rhymes with steady mellow beats, and makes continuous references to the family that convey the significance of the album to the trio. In this sense, the lyrics seem to hold an unexpected honesty that is entirely relatable.

Miss America Nina Davuluri Shares Weight Loss Journey
Nina Davuluri was the picture of grace and confidence when she was crowned Miss America on September 15, but it took traveling down a rocky road to get there.
In 2011, she started working out with trainer Tia Falcone and cut out processed foods, instead opting for a healthy diet of mostly chicken and fresh vegetables. Two years later, Davuluri has slimmed down from her heaviest at 170 pounds to 117 pounds, according to Falcone.

Solidstar – 2face Got me Fame And Fortune
Omotena crooner, Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar, tells PunchNG about his career and relationship with actress, Tonto Dikeh Your album is coming out and the public expectation is way higher than your last album. What do you have to offer your fans? I know there is a lot of expectation of me career-wise. I know I will live up to the expectation because I just released two songs online and the reviews are great. They are really doing well though we just released them online. The two songs are off the album. We just want everybody to go and get the album when it is out because there is going to be different things from Solidstar. People should expect different things from me because they know me as this R ‘n’B artiste but I changed their perception when I released, Omotena and Skibo. I want my fans to know that apart from this afro-pop, I still do reggae, dancehall and the likes. It is more like a very versatile album. I just want to give everybody a different feel and various options to choose from. This year has been good for you. It has been reported that you acquired multi-million naira properties this year alone. What did you do differently? Last year, I performed a lot but most of them were free shows. I was only paid for a few. This year I made a lot of money, did a lot of things for a change. I told my team that we had to sit up. We had spent a lot on projects and we had to think of ways to get the money back. We had a meeting and decided that we all had to put in our best in whatever project we were doing. We thank God it worked out well. Now I am proud of not just my label, but of myself also. You are still with the label that discovered you, Achivas Music. Will you leave it at anytime like some artistes do leave their record labels? I doubt if I will leave Achivas Music anytime soon because the management has been doing well. It is hard to stay on your own because the challenge can be overwhelming. Even if I want to go, I will still be under it; something like an affiliation because it will not be easy. For now, I am still with Achievas. You are known to be very close to Tuface, why are you not signed to his record label, Hypertek Records? I was already signed to Achivas Music before Hypertek Records became my friend. I knew Tuface through my record label. We became very close that some people even thought I was signed under Hypertek. Kudos to Tuface, I really appreciate what he has done for me over the years. He is part of my success story. He got me fame and fortune and I am really grateful to him. How is your grandmother who has always been there to support you and your dream? My grandmother is late now. To me then, she was my everything; she meant the whole world to me and gave me all her support that my own mother and father did not give me. She sent me to school with the little she had. She was a prophetess and she had a church. She was the kind of woman that liked helping people and had a lot of people under her wings. She really tried for me and she is somebody that I will never forget. My granny would do anything to see me happy and I was her favourite grandchild. How do you feel, knowing your grandmother is not alive to witness your success? I think about it most time and anytime I do, I feel very bad. I don’t cry though but I think about it. I just wish she was here to see her son doing good; if she were alive, she would never go hungry for a day. While she was alive, she never ever wanted to see me hungry. By now, I probably would have bought a house for her. I would have taken her to somewhere special. Is it true that you bought a 2013 Infinity SUV for N13m? Why are you not riding it about? With the kind of weather we are experiencing now, there are just some places you would not want to take it to. Is it true you recently bought a property worth about N30m? Yes, I did. Do you have any endorsement deal? No. I don’t. How did you get all that money? I got them from shows; God has been really merciful to me. He has been so wonderful to me. I did tours and got money from that too. Why did you switch from love songs to party songs? I do music for love but at the same time, you have to look at the monetary aspect. We have spent a lot of money. I could remember back then when I sang ‘One in a million’, I sang with all my heart and soul but it did not bring me money. My account was crying. There was nothing coming in, all I got was that I was a talented artiste and I got lots of thumbs up. After much thoughts, I decided to change. I am very versatile; I can actually sing anything. I decided to change and see what would happen. That was when I did Omotena; that was a song that was different from my genre of music and it worked. I decided that the next one was going to be better. Then I did Skibo and the song was a hit. Are you dating Tonto Dikeh? We do hang out. We relax together; we are very very close but not like girlfriend and boyfriend. We are really close. We hang out together, go to places and chill together. Will you cut your dreadlocks anytime soon? I will but not yet because I still need to make a lot of money. I have a small face. My dreads are deceiving a lot of people. If I cut them off I will look like a small boy and you may not recognise me. When I have decided to relax with music, then I will cut them off. Why did you pick Independence Day for your album launch? The timing works for me. I feel releasing the album on October 1 will be very cool. That day is a free day; I doubt if anybody will release an album on that day. Everywhere will be relaxed. Being a free day, I am sure people’s attention will be focused on the album launch.
Baboon Grabs Female TV Reporter’s Breast Live On Air
A baboon who starred in the hit 2012 Tom Cruise film Rock of Ages (The Baboon is a celeb), has come to international attention once more after grabbing a female reporter’s breast live on air. Sabrina Rodriguez, a reporter for Fox 40 in California, was shooting a live spot on the Lodi Grape Festival in San Joaquin County when the baboon made his move. After shaking hands with Mickey, the telly presenter soon found herself in an awkward position when the naughty chap placed one paw on her shoulder and the other on her breast, where it remained throughout the broadcast. Ms Rodriguez, 29, an Emmy award winning TV news reporter, continued with her piece, telling viewers “he’s trying to cop a little bit of a feel”, as the baboon bared its teeth at the camera. Having kept her composure throughout she finished her segment with the sign off: “Join us soon when we’ll be learning a bit about why baboons like grapes.” She was shooting a live trailer for her report on the festival – which featured a Wild about Monkeys show – aimed at showing the social side of the mammal.
Prof. Soyinka :- How I Escaped Death In Kenya Mall Attack
But for a stroke of luck, Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, would have been among the dead in the terror attack that took place at the Nairobi Westgate mall in Kenya last weekend. Speaking at a press conference at the Freedom Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday in honour of the late Ghanaian poet, Professor Kofi Awoonor who died in the attack, Soyinka led a group of eminent Nigerian writers to condemn the Nairobi massacre. Soyinka, who said he, like Awoonor, was invited to the Storymoja/ Hay Literature Festival, said he couldn’t attend because of other pressing engagements he had elsewhere. “My absence was particularly regrettable, because I had planned to make up for my failure to turn up for the immediate prior edition. Participant or absentee however, this is one edition we shall not soon forget,” said Soyinka. The iconic writer said, considering his close relationship with Awoonor, he might have been at the same place with him and could have been shot as well. He said: “Kofi and I could have been splitting a bottle at that same watering hole in between events and at the end of each day.” Condemning the use of religion to commit atrocities, Soyinka, who spoke on the theme, “Humanity and Against,” said: “Those who organised and carried out the outrage on innocent lives in Nairobi are carriers of the most lethal virus of corruption imaginable – corruption of the soul, corruption of the spirit, corruption of that animating humanistic essence that separates us from predatory beasts. I am no theologian of any religion, but I aver that these assailants delude themselves with vistas of paradise after life, that their delusion is born of the perverted reading of salvation and redemption.” As the literary community mourned the deceased writer, Soyinka felt constrained to denounce his killers, who he described as “the virulent sub-species of humanity who bathe their hands in innocent blood.” He noted further: “Only cowards turn deadly weapons against the unarmed, only the depraved glorify in, or justify the act. True warriors do not wage wars against the innocent. Profanity is the name given to the defilement of the sanctity of human life. We call on those who claim to exercise the authority of a fatwa to pronounce that very doom, with all its moral weight, upon those who engage in this serial violation of the right to life, life as a god-given possession that only the blasphemous dare contradict, and the godless wantonly curtail. This scalp that they have added to their collection was roof to a unique brain that a million of their kind can never replace.” Lending his voice to the condemnation of the murder of Awoonor, renowned playwright, Professor JP Clark, said the late Ghanaian writer came across as a non-conformist during his encounter with him at a pan Africa literary conference in Kampala, Ugunda, in 1962 Saddened by his death, Clark said: “I was in a state of shock to hear that Kofi Awoonor could go like that by random bullets in a country far off. It really shows the absurdity of life.” He advised all to do the best they can while alive.

US Walks Out in Disgust During Mugabe’s UN speech
President Robert Mugabe once again hit out at the West on Thursday for their imposition of ‘illegal and filthy’ sanctions, during his address to the United Nations in New York. But his unsavory remarks prompted a walk out from US delegates as Mugabe joined the ranks of international cranks and tin pot dictators who continually use the opportunity to address the UN to lambast the West. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was famous for this and his speeches at the UN largely saw delegates from the US, UK and most European countries walk out in disgust. - See more at: http://www.omg.com.ng/2013/09/us-walks-out-in-disgust-during-mugabes-un-speech.

2pac's Mom Sues Over Royalties
Although Tupac was killed in 1996 his music still generates money through royalties. Sadly though it seems not all those royalties are being paid out to his estate. His mother and administrator of his estate, Afeni Shakur, has opened a lawsuit against Entertainment One and is claiming the company has failed to pay Tupac’s estate US$1.1million in royalties for Pac’s ‘Beginnings: The Lost Tapes’ album which was released in 2007.
A Boat Carrying 150 Capsize in River NIger
No fewer than 42 people were yesterday drowned in a boat mishap on River Niger close to Malilli village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger when traders were returning from Malilli Village to Tunga Illo village, after the day’s market.
The boat which had over 150 passengers capsized midway and drowned 42 people, while 100 others were missing. Local divers helped in recovering the corpses and are still looking for more. Lawyer: Micheal Jackson Was Responsible For his Own Death
Michael Jackson was responsible for his own death, Maryin Putnam, a lawyer for AEG Live said.
Putnam remarked in a closing arguments of the wrongful death lawsuit brought by relatives of the late King of Pop.
Jackson’s family blame the concert promoter for his June 2009 death on the eve of his sold-out comeback tour, claiming the company hired Jackson’s doctor and pressured him to bend medical rules in order to ensure the tour would go ahead.
But in his closing arguments, Putnam denied that the company had hired Dr. Conrad Murray, pointing out that he had been treating Jackson and his family for years before the tour.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Murray was found guilty of providing the insomniac Jackson with the surgical anesthetic Propofil as a sleeping aid, which a coroner found had caused Jackson’s death.
“The evidence is very clear that Michael Jackson was the one who hired Dr. Murray.
”Jackson was responsible for his own health, certainly his own healthcare, and he’s responsible for his own choices, no matter how bad those choices turn out to be.
“The truth here is a tragedy … It’s a tragedy for this family, a tragedy for his mother, a tragedy for his kids. It’s horrible and it’s incredibly sad. But it’s not a tragedy of AEG Live’s making,” Putnam said.
The lawyer insisted that Jackson never told AEG Live about his reliance on the dangerous medication.
“AEG would have never agreed to finance this tour if they knew Mr. Jackson was playing Russian roulette in his bedroom every night,” Putnam told jurors.
During the five-month trial, AEG Live argued that it was Jackson who hired Murray.
Murray is due to be released next month after serving two years in prison following his conviction for the involuntary manslaughter of the late pop star.
Al-Mustapha was found not guilty of murder charges.
Some students and youth organizations gathered in Kaduna on Saturday to celebrate Hamza Al-Mustapha’s release from prison and ask him to run for elections in 2015.
Several hundreds of people gathered at the Murtala Square in Kaduna to honour the former soldier and Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Sani Abacha.
The gathering, which was tagged ‘Almustapha unity gathering’, was witnessed by hundreds of youth and some Kaduna politicians.
The youth chanted solidarity songs and flew banners in support of Mr. Al-Mustapha, in the watchful eyes of security officials.
Mr. Al-Mustapha, who arrived the venue at about 1:09 p.m., was visibly excited by the crowd he saw waiting for him and was squeezed through the crowd to his seat. He is yet to declare his membership of any political party.
One of the organisers of the rally, Ismail Mohammed, said Mr. Al-Mustapha is being celebrated because he is considered a leader and a fighter of justice.
“We are going to push him to contest an election in 2015,” Mr. Mohammed said.
Mr. Al-Mustapha was freed by the Court of Appeal as the court found him not guilty of involvement in the murder of late Kudirat Abiola, wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.
The Lagos State Government has already appealed the judgement.
